Staff Tax Preparer
The Staff Tax Preparer is focused on the preparation of standard individual and business tax returns using client-provided information and firm procedures. This role includes reviewing source documents, entering tax data accurately, identifying missing or unclear information, clearing routine diagnostics, and escalating questions or unusual items to the appropriate reviewer.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
Prepare accurate and thorough federal and state tax returns for individuals and small businesses
Review financial documents, including income statements, balance sheets, receipts, and expense reports to gather necessary data for tax filings
Analyze client financial information to identify potential deductions, credits, and strategies that optimize tax outcomes
Maintain up to date knowledge of current tax laws, regulations, and deadlines to ensure compliance and avoid penalties
Communicate tax concepts clearly and effectively to clients, explaining filing procedures and answering questions with professionalism and clarity
Maintain organized records for year-to-year consistency
Qualifications:
Comfortable using business management software and collaboration tools such as MS Outlook & Teams, Excel, TaxDome, etc
Experience in tax preparation in public accounting environments
Excellent attention to detail
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment
Comfortable with structured processes
High level of discretion and confidentiality
Hours: Full-Time
