Description


Position Summary: The Mechanic/Millwright “B” will be responsible for properly maintaining the equipment in the plant. Applies in-depth knowledge of Mechanical work methods, standards, techniques, and problem solving to achieve high plant availability, reliability, and work efficiency.

Position Description 

Duties and Responsibilities:


Installs and maintains mechanical equipment such as conveyors, pumps, air compressors, hydraulics, pneumatics, valves, fans, dampers, piping, and completes limited welding tasks 
Conducts quality checks of maintenance work performed
 Improves and performs preventive maintenance for plant equipment  
Assists Mechanic/Millwright “A” with precision maintenance tasks such as equipment alignments and rebuilds.
Trains and develops Mechanic/Millwright “C” in performing maintenance tasks and preventative maintenance to include hands-on training. 
Conducts project work including installation and commissioning of equipment, machine modifications and equipment improvements
Performs equipment rigging and operates cranes, forklift, and man lift.
Participate in equipment/system problem solving efforts.
Ensure that appropriate safety procedures are followed.
Maintains organization and cleanliness in work areas
Service, install, and laser align pumps. 
Service and troubleshoot pneumatic circuits. 
Torque gaskets and fasteners.
Aids in Root Cause Analysis and Safety Investigations as needed
Lead Various jobs e.g. Roller Mill Rebuild and Atomizer Rebuild.



Requirements


Knowledge, skills, and abilities: 


Ability to maintain or repair mechanical equipment, such as motors, gearboxes, turbine generators, conveyors, compressors, belt drives and chain drives.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
Ability to perform precision maintenance.
Basic understanding of P&IDs (Piping and Instrument Diagrams).
Demonstrate a continuous improvement mindset.
Demonstrated knowledge of a micrometer and dial caliper.
Ability to recognize or identify tools and their common uses, and for the ability to accurately read various types of dials, scales, and gauges. 
Understanding of processes and concepts in chemistry and general science. 
Ability to read, understand, and interpret written material and instructions. 
Knowledge and understanding of weights, volumes, flow rates, percentage, yield and ratios related to solids and gases and the manufacturing process.
Ability to communicate verbally and in writing information. 
Ability to work as part of a team.
Ability to solve problems using logical thinking and analytical skills.
Skilled in a CMMs work order planning and scheduling process.
Understanding of pipe fitting.
Knowledge of lubrication system and greasing techniques. 
Ability to work efficiently with computers and their programs.
Ability to develop preventative maintenance tasks and bill of materials for equipment.
Ability to weld on a non-code basis 
Laser alignment and Rim and Face Alignment.
Belt Sheave Alignment.
Ability to use a dial indicator.


Education and experience:


High School diploma or equivalent required
2 to 7 years of industrial mechanical experience required
Associates degree in relevant field preferred
