Grounds Maintenance Supervisor

SUMMARY:
Under direct supervision of the Director of Facilities, responsible for the maintenance, upkeep and repair of the grounds.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Directs, organizes and coordinates ground maintenance and repair activities for all casino properties.
• Implements and communicates goals, objectives, policies and procedures in accordance with applicable rules and regulations.
• Assigns work activities and projects, monitors workflow, reviews and evaluates work products, methods and procedures.
• Ensures goals and objectives of projects are accomplished according to time constraints and budget limitations.
• Coordinates special repairs and/or grounds improvements and confers with contractors and outside vendors or regulatory staff to determine work schedules and product standards. Revises time schedules and prioritizes as needed.
• Maintains communication with contractors and vendors through the entire phase of project.
• Improve facilities staff effectiveness by coaching and training employees; planning, delegating, monitoring, and appraising job tasks and results in a timely manner.
• Provides information to leadership and staff regarding facility repair, enhancements or new construction projects; investigates and resolves issues.
• Provides support for facility services for special events and functions; coordinates facility security.
• Maintains inventory of supplies, materials and equipment; purchases as required.
• Schedules preventive maintenance, responds to emergencies or malfunctions of equipment.
• Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing networks; conferring with representatives of contracting agencies and related organizations.
• Monitors staff performance to ensure casino customer service standards are achieved.
• Contributes to a team effort and accomplishes related results as required.
• Shall maintain casino entrance and median landscape, regular weeding and mowing
• Work duties are performed outdoors often under adverse weather conditions such as hot sun, wind, rain, cold, etc.
• Must be physically able to operate maintenance equipment, including string trimmers, walking mowers, hand tools, and other gardening equipment. Assist in the repair, maintenance and installation of irrigation system.
• Will operate and transport equipment in utility vehicle or golf cart.
• Provide routine maintenance of equipment and tools reporting any safety issues or repair needs to supervisor.
• Promotes a clean, safe and healthy work environment for employees and guest. Promptly reports all concerns to Supervisor.
• Comply with regulatory laws, employee handbook, department policy and procedures, safety codes, etc.
• Ensure that the operation of equipment, tools and materials are handled in a safe manner.
• Promote internal guest service standards through courteous and respectful behavior.
• Performs other duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma or GED plus five years grounds keeping experience and 3 years' experience in management or supervisory experience. Must be twenty-one (21) years of age. Valid driver's license and clean driving record. No felony, theft or stealing convictions. Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol screen, background investigation, obtain and maintain gaming license. Tribal preference.

WORKING CONDITIONS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly is required to stand and walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is required to climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pound. Work is generally performed outside. Exposure to natural weather conditions, various dusts and mists, and normal debris and hazards common at construction sites may occur while performing outdoor duties. Situations where safety-toe shoes, safety goggles, gloves, protective face shields, or hardhats are needed may arise. Prolonged standing and walking may be on uneven surfaces or unstable ground. Tight time constraints and multiple demands are common. Evening and/or weekend work may be required. Extended hours and irregular shifts may be required.
