The school of Education at Northwestern State University is seeking a qualified individual for the full-time, 12-month position of Coordinator of Student Services for Graduation and Licensure.

Minimum Qualifications


 


The candidate should hold a minimum of a bachelor's degree 
A master's degree is preferred 
Candidates must have a minimum of five years' experience in education


 


Job Duties and Other Information


Coordinating Teacher Candidacy and Certification by: 


Chairing the Admissions and Retention Committee
Informing undergraduate students of the requirements for admission to teacher candidacy and teacher certification by visiting classes each semester, on-campus and off-campus
Verifying eligibility for admission to teacher candidacy
Verifying eligibility to enroll in courses for which teacher candidacy is required
Reviewing requests for course exceptions (substitutions)
Communicating teacher certification information to potential candidates for the alternate certification programs
Participating in District recruiting activities for new teachers
Verifying eligibility and admitting applicants to the alternate certification programs
Verifying eligibility for enrollment in student teaching or internship
Submitting PL 1 and Level 1 applications for teaching certificates to the Louisiana Department of Education
Promoting PRAXIS review sessions
Providing advisors with information regarding degree requirements
Corresponding with parish school boards and the Louisiana Department of Education Certification Office regarding teacher ce11ification issues
Serving as a member of the Teacher Education Council
Reviewing proposed curriculum requests to ensure that they comply with both University and Louisiana certification requirements
Preparing and submitting the yearly AACTE and Title II reports, as well as other State and Federal reports, as requested
Training staff to prepare and submit the yearly AACTE and Title II reports, as well as other State and Federal reports, as requested
Performing degree evaluations via the BANNER Degree Works system
Approving exceptions on BANNER Degree Works
Verifying the completion of degree requirements for programs in these Departments and confirming graduation eligibility

Additional duties and responsibilities not related to Teacher Candidacy and Certification are for the Departments of Health and Physical Education, Psychology, and Social Work: 


Performing degree evaluations via the BANNER Degree Works system
Approving exceptions on BANNER Degree Works
Verifying the completion of degree requirements for programs in these Departments and confirming graduation eligibility
Fulfill all duties as described by the School of Education Director
