Compliance Specialist

SUMMARY:
Under general supervision of the Director of Compliance, the position will perform the role as the Compliance Specialist for Jena Choctaw Pines Casino and Mikos Gaming. Assist with Title 31 responsibilities by performing BSA/AML analysis. Assist with the organizations internal controls and procedures to ensure compliance with applicable tribal, federal and state gaming regulations. Assist with monitoring safety programs. Maintains confidentiality of all privileged information

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Maintains a working knowledge of Casino Policy and Procedures, Minimum Internal Control Standards, and relevant gaming regulations.
Assist with researches and reports on the most cost effective plans to minimize company losses due to accidents and etc.
Assist with maintaining Compliance and Safety training materials and programs.
Maintains accurate, detailed records of internal control activity.
Assist with and developing and implementing policies and procedures
Assist with Title 31 BSA/AML reviews and investigations.
Responsible for monitoring financial activities to ensure compliance and reduce the risk of money laundering
Drafts written SARs consistent with the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) as required.
Schedules annual training and testing for Title 31.
.Reviewing transaction data to detect fraud or trends to support performing Know Your Customer and Due Diligence processes.
.Participate in reviews and discussions of how to improve anti-money laundering policies and procedures on a monthly basis by following regulations from multiple platforms.
Assist with annual risk assessment.
Reviewing risk and completing assessments
Conducting compliance research on applicable rules and regulations, including specific topics such as conflicts of interest and record retention policies.
Analyzing and prioritizing research data and providing summaries in a presentable format for discussion with management.
Creating records of compliance activities
Keeping the team updated on changes in regulations
Using digital equipment for AML risk analysis
Maintains a confidential filing and retrieval system.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:


Preferred Associates Degree or three to five years of professional experience
Required experience in regulatory compliance, audit, or Title 31 BSA/AML.
Must be able to demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office, grammar, spelling, math, and filing.
Gaming experience preferred.
Must be twenty-one (21) years of age.
Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
No felony, theft or stealing convictions. Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol screen, background investigation, obtain and maintain gaming license.
Tribal preference.


TRIBAL PREFERENCE POLICY
Members of the Jena Band of Choctaw Tribe shall be given absolute preference with respect to hiring, promotions, training, contracting, and separation from employment. For persons who meet the minimum qualifications, preferential treatment shall be based on the following criteria and shall be given in the following order:

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:


Knowledge of tribal gaming operations, regulations and requirements
Knowledge of company procedures and staff at all levels of the organization.
Knowledge of general accounting, auditing, and internal control principals/standards and investigational techniques.
Knowledge of Title 31 BSA/AML requirements.
Knowledge of KYC and EDD processes.
Skill in operating various word-processing, spreadsheets, and database software programs in a Windows environment, gather and compile data, prepare reports.
Skill using independent judgment in problem solving of complex operating issues. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
Ability to establish and maintain professional relationships with individuals of varying social and cultural backgrounds and with co-workers at all levels.
Ability to maintain confidentiality, analyze situations, make solid decisions and exercise independent judgment.
Ability to represent the organization in a professional manner, building respect and confidence.
Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
Ability to carry out instructions furnished in verbal or written format.
Ability to prepare routine administrative paperwork.


WORKING CONDITIONS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly is required to sit and/or stand.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally is required to stoop, kneel, couch, crawl, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
The employee may occasionally be required to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Work Environment:
Evening and/or weekend work may be required.
Occasional travel may be required.
Work is generally performed in an office setting with a moderate noise level. Occasional work is performed in a Casino setting with exposure to second-hand smoke and a moderate noise level. Extended hours and irregular shifts may be required. Tight time constraints and multiple demands are common.
