Behavior Interventionist
Qualifications:
Master's Degree in School Counseling, Social Work, Psychology or other related field
Minimum of three years experience working with students with exceptionalities in an educational or clinical setting
BCBA Certification or certified in ABA practices
Additional criteria as established by the Board
Reports to: Director of Special Education
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
To promote appropriate disciplinary and social skills through direct interaction with students, their families, teachers, and school personnel/administration
Personal Qualities:
Devotes time and energy effectively to job
Demonstrates ability to work well with individuals and groups
Exercises good judgement when arriving at decisions
Maintains high standards of ethics, honesty, and integrity in all personal and professional matters
Related Responsibilities:
Concentrates effort in area of major responsibility

Keeps abreast of current trends in education
Exhibits loyalty in the promotion of the district's goals
Completes a self-evaluation annually
Develops and implements Individual Growth Plan (IGP) annually
Reports job-related injuries within 48 hours of the incident to the Director of Human Resources. ("Job related injuries" include, but ate not limited to any accident or illness which involves loss of consciousness, restriction of work motion, or medical treatment.)
Terms of Employment: 10 months
Evaluation:
Performance of this position will be evaluated annually in accordance with Louisiana Department of Education and Natchitoches Parish School Board policy.
Performance Responsibilities:
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Exhibits knowledge related to disciplinary procedures for exceptional students
Respond appropriately to different situations common among students with Autism and others with behavioral and developmental challenges.
Study patient behavior and apply ABA principals
Know how to respond to negative behaviors appropriately
Assist school personnel in conducting Functional Behavior Assessments on assigned exceptional students in order to develop appropriate behavioral intervention plans
Assist teachers and other school personnel in the design, implementation and monitoring of behavioral management/intervention plans for exceptional students
Attends IEP meetings of exceptional students related to disciplinary actions and collaborate with assigned personnel
Confers with exceptional students, parents, teachers, professional staff and Director of Exceptional Student Services for matters related to discipline of exceptional students and behavior management strategies
Provide technical assistance/support in social skills development, behavior intervention, and classroom management for exceptional students
Utilize key communication skills to provide effective positive feedback to students, parents and other personnel
Assist in compilation of reports and provide written documentation regarding exceptional students
Attends staff and professional meetings as directed by the Director of Exceptional Student Services
Performs additional duties assigned by the Director of Exceptional Student Services

Ability to maintain physical stamina and emotional stability to work effectively under pressure
