The Department of Biology and Microbiology at Northwestern State University of Louisiana seeks applications from enthusiastic individuals interested in a tenure-track Assistant/Associate Professor of Biology position beginning January 6, 2025.

Minimum Qualifications


The applicant must have at least a Master of Science Degree in Biology or comparable degree, Ph.D. is preferred. The successful candidate must teach some combination of undergraduate lecture and laboratory courses in the areas of general biology and genetics to science and non­science majors. Preference will be given to applicants with prior college-level teaching and practical experiential learning knowledge.

Submit course outlines and objectives
Utilize a variety of proven teaching methods appropriate to pedagogy
Evaluate students and report progress
Participate in periodic review of course materials
Maintain class schedules and the required 10 hours of office hours per week as
determined by the Department Chair
 Demonstrate knowledge of the goals and objectives of the College and University
Serve as an advisor and mentor for the students in the Department of Biology and Microbiology.
Participate in faculty meetings and serve on all appropriate program and College of Arts and Sciences committees
Maintain appropriate expertise and competencies through continued professional development and pursuit of scholarly activities including grant writing, research, scholarly publication, and presentations
Represent the University in a professional manner in all activities and functions as determined by the President, Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dean or Department Chair (e.g., commencement, faculty institute, registration, recruitment, and any called meetings)
Maintain confidentiality in accordance with federal laws and program policy
Acknowledge and agree to comply with those mandates of the Constitution and laws of the State of Louisiana which regulate the activity and employment of state employees including but not limited to the "Code of Government Ethics", LA R.S.42:1101 et seq", and "Dual Office Holding and Dual Employment LA R.S. 42:61 et seq".
