Minimum Qualifications


 

Qualifications


Must hold a master's degree accredited by the Council on Social Work Education and a doctorate in Social Work or related field.
Must have the equivalent of two years or more full-time post-master's degree professional experience. A minimum of two years full-time post-CSWE­accredited master's degree experience in social work practice required to teach "practice" courses. Previous teaching experience preferred. 
Must hold a Social Work License or Credential with Louisiana preferred. 
Must be proficient in computer word processing and other technologies. 
Must be effective in teaching the assigned subject material. 
Must possess skills to become proficient in curriculum development, instruction, online instruction, evaluation and academic counseling. 
Must meet the required standards defined by the University.


 


Job Concepts


 

Duties and Responsibilities

 


Teach 12-15 hours per semester with 51% of time in the MSW program.  Work with the MSW Program Director on the MSW accreditation with the Council on Social Work Education
Provide course instruction in accordance with course syllabus and department guidelines.
Maintain assigned class schedules.
Evaluate students and report progress in a timely manner.
Participate in periodic review of course materials and in course development/revision.
Serve as an academic advisor and mentor for social work students.
Maintain required office hours of 10 face-to-face and online hours per week, and, during business hours, be attentive to departmental communications and flow of departmental work.
Maintain appropriate expertise and competencies through continuing professional development, including attending local, state, regional, and/or national conferences.
Engage in scholarly activities including research, presentations, publication, and grant writing.
Actively engage in service to the social work department by assuming leadership of departmental initiatives.
Participate in faculty meetings.
Serve on departmental, college, and university committees.
Engage in departmental, college, university, community, and professional service.
Participate in student recruitment activities.
Adhere to the National Association of Social Workers Code of Ethics and the Rules, Standards, and Procedures of the Louisiana Social Work Practice Act.
