Let's Cut the Ribbon!
Scheduling a Ribbon Cutting Event:
Ribbon cuttings are a valued Chamber member benefit, available exclusively to current members. To ensure a successful event and give us time to invite officials and local media, ribbon cuttings should be scheduled by 4:00 pm at least two weeks in advance from the anticipated date. Ribbon cuttings can be scheduled for any day of the week, but we’ve found that the best days for strong community turnout are Wednesdays and Fridays from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m or 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. While after-hours events are available upon request, they generally see less foot traffic.
Communication:
Your ribbon cutting will be promoted across several of the Chamber’s communication channels to help maximize visibility and attendance. Over 400 Chamber member businesses will receive an email invitation and a reminder as the event approaches. On Facebook, we’ll create an event and invite you to co-host it, which will be shared multiple times leading up to the date. The event graphic will also be shared on LinkedIn with key details and featured on our story and in our “Experience” highlight on Instagram. In addition, personal invitations will be sent to local officials and media representatives.
Because our audience may differ from yours, we strongly encourage you to share the event on your own social media and communication platforms as well. Our promotional graphics follow a standard Chamber template (example here), which includes your business logo and event details. If you’d prefer to use your own graphic design, just let us know in advance!
Event Day:
On the day of your ribbon cutting, a Chamber representative or ambassador will kick things off with a brief welcome before inviting a representative from your business or organization to speak—so be sure to have someone ready with a few words to share. If your event is held outdoors in front of signage or a logo, please block off any parking spaces directly in front of that area to ensure clear photos.
We’ll take several photos during the event to share on social media. For weekday events held during business hours, photos are posted the same day. For after-hours or weekend events, photos will typically be shared during the next business day. We prioritize capturing the ribbon cutting moment, a group photo of your team or family with the ribbon, and—if applicable—a photo with your Chamber membership plaque. If there’s a specific shot you’d like us to capture, let us know during the planning phase.
Additional Information:
You can browse additional examples of our Ribbon Cutting photo albums on our Facebook page here. Grow Level members and above ($700 annual dues) will also receive a 30–60 second highlight video of the event (example here), and if there's a particular style or feature you like, let us know—we’ll do our best to incorporate it into your video.
