NPSB Doubles State Growth in 2025 LEAP Results
NATCHITOCHES, LA - The Louisiana Department of Education (LDOE) released LEAP results for the 2024-2025 school year today, and Natchitoches Parish Schools (NPSB) is being recognized as one of the top improving school systems in the state.
This year, NPSB posted a 2% increase in overall student proficiency - double the state's average growth of just 1%. That progress places NPSB tied for third in the state for year-over-year growth, continuing an impressive upward trend in student performance across the district.
Even more notably, only 36% of school systems across Louisiana improved their proficiency rate this year. Natchitoches Parish was among that top third, continuing to buck the trend and deliver results.
"We know we're starting to sound like a broken record-but the kits keep coming," said NPSB Superintendent Dr. Grant Eloi. "Each year, our students, teachers, and school leaders show up, work hard, and improve outcomes. This year is no exception, and we're incredibly proud to be tired for the third highest growth in the state."
NPSB also continues to outperform the state average in overall proficiency by 4 percentage points, a gap that reflects both sustained excellence and a system-wide commitment to academic growth.
Looking at long-term progress, the gains are even more impressive:
- In 2021, just 27% of NPSB Students were scoring proficient on the LEAP
- In 2025, that number has climbed to 39% - a 12 percentage point increase over four years
- In comparison, the state as a whole grew just 5 percentage points over the same period
As in previous years, NPSB plans to continue analyzing individual subject area performance to further refine curriculum and instruction. The full 2025 LEAP results are now available on the Louisiana Department of Education's website.
"This kind of growth doesn't happen by chance," said Dr. Eloi. "It takes intentional effort, bold leadership at the school level, high-quality instruction, and a belief that all students can achieve. While we still have work to do to reach the levels we strive for, we will take this moment to celebrate the incredible progress we've made and the bright future ahead."
