Natchitoches, LA, October 9, 2025 - The Natchitoches Parish Library (NPL) is excited to once again offer its popular Halloween costume checkout program this October, giving families and individuals the chance to enjoy the holiday without the extra expense. 

Costumes for all ages, from whimsical to spooky, are available at the Main Branch in Natchitoches and the Northeast Branch in Campti. Adult patrons may check out up to two costumes per card for up to six weeks. Costumes are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

"Every year, we see how much joy this program brings to families," says NPL Deputy Director, Alan Niette. "It's more than saving money, it's about giving kids and adults the chance to step into their imaginations and make memories together."

Patrons with gently used costumes or accessories they no longer need are encouraged to donate them to the library's collection. Donations can also reduce certain fines through the library's annual Fine ForGIVING" program, helping both future trick-or-treaters and the community at large.

This service, like all library resources, is free with an NPL card. For those who do not yet have one, signing up is quick and free with a current photo ID (and school or work ID if necessary) and proof of address (if different than ID) at either branch. Anyone who lives, works, or goes to school in Natchitoches Parish is eligible for an NPL card.
