Louisiana Breaks into Top 10 States for Doing Business

BATON ROUGE, La. - Louisiana is back in the national spotlight as one of the best places to do business. Area Development Magazine has ranked Louisiana the No. 9 Top State for Doing Business in 2025, the first time in five years the state has cracked the Top 10.
The annual survey of site selectors measures everything from workforce readiness and infrastructure to speed of permitting and cost of doing business. Louisiana's climb from No. 11 last year reflects the state's growing competitiveness, driven by strategic reforms and bold new investments in infrastructure, innovation and talent development.
"Louisiana has always had the talent, resources, and determination to compete with anyone in the country," Governor Landry said. "Now, we're proving it on the national stage. Our climb into the Top 10 is just the next step in Louisiana's new era of opportunity for our people and our businesses."
In addition to its No. 9 overall ranking, Louisiana earned six Top 10 category finishes - tied for the most in more than five years - reinforcing the state's standing as a national leader for companies seeking growth, opportunity and long-term success.
"This recognition underscores what we've been saying - Louisiana is open for business and positioned to grow," said Louisiana Economic Development Secretary Susan B. Bourgeois. "From small business to global companies, more and more decision-makers are choosing Louisiana because they see the opportunity, the talent and the partnerships that make success possible here."
The rankings are based on a nationwide survey of more than 40 leading site consultants, who evaluate 15 factors that influence where companies choose to locate or expand. The results appear in the fall issue of Area Development Magazine, published online.
