Cane River National Heritage Area Announces Opening of RFP for Downtown Seawall, Riverbank Stabilization Project

Cane River National Heritage Area (CRNHA), in partnership with the Cane River Waterway Commission and the City of Natchitoches, is pleased to announce the release of a Request for Proposals (RFP) for the Downtown Seawall Construction and River Stabilization Project along Williams Avenue in Natchitoches, LA. This critical infrastructure project aims to enhance the riverbank's safety, stability, and aesthetics while preserving the area's natural landscape.

The project will involve the construction of a 1,400-foot seawall along the Cane River Lake, designed to prevent erosion and protect the riverbank. The scope of work includes stabilizing the riverbank and landscaping that prioritizes the preservation of mature trees on the site. Qualified contractors are invited to submit proposals for the project, which will play a significant role in safeguarding the historic riverfront across from Front Street in Downtown Natchitoches.

CRNHA Executive Director Rebecca Blankenbaker emphasized the project's importance: "This project represents a critical step in protecting the natural and historical landscape of our riverfront. We're excited to collaborate with the Cane River Waterway Commission and the City of Natchitoches to ensure that this iconic area remains secure and accessible for future generations."

Submission Details: Interested contractors must submit a detailed proposal, including costs, project timeline, contractor qualifications, and a comprehensive installation plan. Proposals will be evaluated based on cost-effectiveness, contractor experience, seawall design, and project timeline.

Proposals must be submitted by April 21, 2025. Full details of the RFP, including submission requirements and evaluation criteria, can be accessed at http://canerivernha.org/requests-proposals.

For additional information or questions, please contact Rebecca Blankenbaker at Rebecca@CaneRiverNHA.org or (318) 356-5555.

CRNHA reserves the right to reject any or all proposals and select the contractor deemed in best interest of the project.
