Are you detail-driven, highly organized, and passionate about helping your community grow? The Natchitoches Area Chamber of Commerce is seeking a motivated professional to support our economic and community development initiatives as our Economic Development & Research Coordinator.
This full-time, in-person role is perfect for someone who enjoys behind-the-scenes work like researching sites, coordinating project documentation, and keeping organized systems running smoothly. The ideal candidate will be task-oriented, eager to learn, and find joy in the details – someone who takes pride in getting things right, follows through with professionalism, and enjoys being part of a team working toward a bigger mission.
You’ll work alongside local leaders and partners to help us attract and retain businesses, respond to project requests, and coordinate outreach and workforce efforts that strengthen the local economy.
While this position is officially employed by the Natchitoches Area Chamber of Commerce, the work is performed on behalf of the Natchitoches Economic Development Alliance (NEDA) through a management agreement between the two organizations. The Chamber provides staffing and operational support to NEDA, allowing both organizations to work closely together to advance economic growth, business recruitment, workforce development, and quality of life initiatives across the region.
Core Responsibilities:
Conduct research and prepare documentation on available properties, utility access, zoning, and development readiness
Assist in completing RFIs (Requests for Information) for site selectors, companies, and economic development partners
Maintain and update internal site and building databases and assist with external platforms such as MLS or LED listings
Provide light administrative support for NEDA, including file management, invoicing, and recordkeeping
Help coordinate logistics for workforce initiatives and community outreach activities, and work with the marketing team to ensure those efforts are visible, well-communicated, and help the community stay informed and engaged
Support communication and compliance tasks for the local ITEP committee and other advisory groups
Represent the Chamber and NEDA professionally in written and verbal communication with partners and stakeholders
Support the President/CEO with special projects, grant reporting, and other duties as assigned
Serve as a collaborative and dependable team member, supporting organizational goals and stepping in to assist with projects or tasks as needed
Minimum Qualifications:
1-2 years of experience in administrative support, project coordination, business operations, or research-based work
Excellent organizational and time management skills
Strong attention to detail and the ability to independently follow through on assigned tasks
Clear and professional communication skills, both written and verbal
Comfortable using Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and learning new platforms such as billing, database, or project tracking tools
Preferred Traits and Additional Qualifications:
Curious and resourceful researcher
Proactive and dependable team player
Professional, friendly, and community-oriented
Familiarity with economic development, utilities, property listings, or business services a plus (but not required)
Compensation & Benefits:
Compensation commensurate with experience
Retirement program with 3% match after one year
